The Rhône valley makes its own weather. In summer the thermal valley breeze works its way up from Lake Geneva in the early afternoon and builds until evening: valley-floor landings from Martigny to Brig get demanding in the hot hours. On south-foehn days the air pours in over the Simplon and Grand-St-Bernard passes and can sweep the valley within minutes.
The stations cover the major launches (Verbier, Anzère, Crans-Montana, Vercorin, Fiesch) and the high SLF ridge masts. For risk days, the foehn page tracks the pressure difference and the precursors continuously.
